If you’ve ever attended LGBTQ+ (Lambda) meetings in any other city, you know that a clubhouse of our size, long history, and full meeting schedule is very rare. The only way we have been able to serve as a beacon of queer recovery in Houston over these past 45 years is through both the service and monetary support of our meeting-goers and Members.

At Lambda Center Houston, we are committed to upholding the 7th Tradition, which reminds us that “Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.”

Your contributions help keep our doors open and ensure that we continue providing a safe and welcoming space for all who seek recovery. Each group is provided with a monthly escrow report with a recommended distribution for 7th tradition collections beyond clubhouse dues to approve by group conscience.

Now for over 45 years, Lambda Center Houston has remained a beacon of recovery for the LGBTQ+ community and allies right in the heart of Houston. As you know, we are fortunate to have such a phenomenal clubhouse for our community. Even among other major cities in the world, there is no place for queer recovery quite like Lambda Center Houston. However, the maintenance of our wonderful property comes at a cost, and it is only through tax-deductible membership dues that we are able to sustain our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Members also elect our Board of Directors and vote on important matters.

Why become a Member?

  • It takes almost $20,000 a month to maintain and operate the center.

  • Fundraising, 7th Tradition, and donations only cover part of these costs. We rely on Member Dues.

  • Membership is required to vote in Board Elections and major decisions for the Center.

  • Members are eligible for service positions on the Board of Directors.

  • Memberships are tax-deductible contributions to our nonprofit Center.
